The MexicanMiningChamber, Camimex, which represents 90 percent ofMexico’sminingactivity, asked the US government to keep the sector under consideration asNorth Americare-opens post-pandemic, it said in a statement.

Camimex represents companies like Minera Autlan, a key Mexican ferroalloys and manganese producer. The Camimex letter was sent to the US ambassador toMexico, Christopher Landau.

Camimex said the Mexicanminingsegment is a “big exporter to the US, both directly and indirectly,” and asked the US official to consider the industry in the US-Mexicotalks, as the two countries eventually discuss a re-opening post-pandemic.

与钢铁行业不同,miningsegment wasn’t considered “essential” inMexico, Camimex said.

Camimex said the non-recognition of theminingindustry as a key area might result in a “collapse” of the supply chain for other industries as well, including the automotive, aerospace, the agribusiness, and civil construction segments.
