According to the data issued byRussia's Ministry of Economic Development, in the first 10 months of 2010Russiaregistered a 13.3 percent increase in itscrude steelproductionto 55.56 million mt and an 11.3 percent growth in its finished steel output to 48 million mt, both compared to the same period last year.
According to the ministry's preliminary data, in January-October 2010EvrazGroup's subsidiary West-Siberian Steel Works (ZapSib) increased its finished steel output by 21 percent to 4.856 million mt, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) raised its finished steel product output by 18.3 percent to 8.589 million mt,SeverstalCherepovets increased its finished output by 16.3 percent to 8.368 million mt, Novolipetsk Steel's (NLMK) finished output rose by 12.4 percent to 7.275 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, during the period in question, year-on-year decreases in their finished steel product outputs were registered byMechel's Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant - down 6.2 percent to 2.5 million mt, byEvraz's Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works (NTMK) - down 2.5 percent to 2.933 million mt,Evraz's Novokuznetsk Iron and Steel Plant - down 8.2 percent to 1.177 million mt,Metalloinvest's Oskol Elektrometallurgical Plant - down 5.4 percent to 2.318 million mt, and byMetalloinvest's Ural Steel - down 12.8 percent to 1.922 million mt, all compared to January-October 2009.
In January-September,Russia's rolled steel product exports amounted to 22.7 million mt - up 6.6 percent year on year, while its imports reached 3.76 million mt - up 54.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
