Swedish specialty steel producerSSABhas announced that it will supply fossil-free steel toDenmark-based high-qualityautomotivecomponents supplier Meneta Group, to be used in auto componentproduction, with the shared view that cars should not only drive sustainably, but also be produced sustainably.
From 2026, Meneta expects initial Scope 3 carbon reductions of 5,500-6,000 mt, growing to approximately 60,000 mt in subsequent years when itsproductionfully incorporates fossil-free steel fromSSAB.
SSABaims to deliver fossil-free steel to the market at a commercial scale during 2026, and to largely eliminate carbon emissions from their own operations in around 2030.
