Turkey’s scrap imports down 17.9 percent in January-September

In the January-September period of the current year,Turkey'sscrapimport volume decreased by 17.9 percent to 12.05 million metric tons, while these imports were valued at $3.4 billion, down 38.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In the given period,Turkey'sscrapimports from EU countries decreased by 25.4 percent to 5.94 million mt, itsscrapimports from theUSdeclined by 12.1 percent to 2.62 million mt, whilescrapimports from CIS countries amounted to 2.84 million mt, down 1.2 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the same period,Turkey'sscrapimports from EU countries were valued at $1.68 billion, down 44.1 percent, itsscrapimports from theUSwere worth $753 million, decreasing by 34.4 percent, and the value of itsscrapimports from CIS countries declined by 26.3 percent to $782 million, all compared to the same period last year.
