The US Securities and Exchange Commission has announced that Brazilian minerValehas agreed to pay $55.9 million to settle charges relating to collapse of the Brumadinho dam that killed 270 people in January 2019.
The commission suedValein April last year, alleging the company manipulated dam safety audits, obtained fraudulent stability certificates and misled local governments, communities and investors with its environmental, social and governance disclosures, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
