Local Turkish scrap market dragged down by weaker lira

Friday, 04 June 2021 17:20:44 (GMT+3) |Istanbul

Since SteelOrbis’ report published on May 31, two Turkish mills have decreased their localscrappurchase prices by TRY 150-250/mt or $26-39/mt. The depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar has resulted in a $8-9/mt decrease in the dollar prices of the other mills that have kept their prices stable on lira basis, depending on the grade.

As a result, the general range in the local Turkishscrapmarket for the benchmark DKP gradescraphas moved down on the lower end from TRY 3,620-4,530 to TRY 3,620-4,280/mt, while the dollar-based quotations have moved from $426-533/mt to $418-494/mt.
